Friday 25 September, 11am – 1pm
The government’s national Kickstart scheme is now up and running. It provides funding for employers to create six-month job placements for young people aged 16-24 who are claiming Universal Credit.
In Greater Manchester, we want to ensure the scheme is as effective as possible. Our young people deserve good quality, meaningful job opportunities, with access to training and complementary careers support to enable them to progress into suitable and sustainable employment in the future. The scheme should also promote equality and diversity, supporting the recruitment of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
To this end, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is partnering with the Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA) and Job Centre Plus to establish a Greater Manchester Kickstart Board to steer the delivery of the scheme in the city-region.
This webinar aims to:
• Provide guidance on the Kickstart scheme and the national funding that is being made available to employers
• Explain how employers can get involved and what the role of the ‘representative’ (intermediary) is
• Explore what a good placement looks like and introduce the purpose of the Kickstart Greater Manchester board
• Outline next steps and where to find out more about getting involved with Kickstart.
The session will be chaired by Mo Isap, co-chair of the Greater Manchester LEP, and include input from the Department for Work and Pensions, ERSA and Job Centre Plus.
There will be a panel Q&A session at the end of the webinar, please come prepared with questions to aid discussion.
Due to limited capacity we ask that each organisation limits their number of attendees to one or two people.
The event will be hosted on Microsoft Teams and joining instructions will be send prior to the event. Please note that the webinar will be recorded and shared on GMCA's YouTube channel, the LEP website and to organisations who are unable to attend the live meeting.
