ERSA’s 2011 conference, entitled Welfare to Work in focus: people, places and public service reform, took a long-term view around what needs to change so that welfare to work providers are in a position to deliver ideal employment services.

The conference explored where the jobs are likely to be and how providers can adapt to differing local labour market conditions. Sessions discuss how providers can best develop partnerships with local authorities, housing associations, the voluntary sector and others to deliver tailored services to best meet the needs of individuals.

In addition, the conference explored the Government’s public service reform white paper which highlighted the industry as a model for other areas of public services to follow. The conference set out the lessons government can learn from welfare to work in their wider reform of public services.
