Terence was unemployed for over 14 years when he joined the Work Programme and while he was keen to find work in the care industry, he was concerned that his lack of qualifications, childcare commitments and long period of unemployment could impact on him finding work. With the support of Shaw Trust he was delighted to have secured a part-time permanent job as a support worker, Terrance said: “The fact that my adviser rang me after interviews and the on-going support I received really helped build my confidence.”

Terence is very much enjoying his job, continues caring for his children and is currently studying for an NVQ.
