Following the announcement today of the launch of Help to Work, a new programme to support the long-term unemployed into work, Kirsty McHugh, ERSA’s Chief Executive, said:

‘Good quality work experience can make the difference between getting a job and remaining long term unemployed.  The focus on work placements by the government is welcomed.  However, for many finishing the Work Programme there  will still be some barriers to employment and we therefore need to make sure that only those who will  benefit from work experience are referred to this programme.’
